IGOR KLOKOV

This highly eclectic program of guitar music might not seem to make sense at first sight.

It presents a miscellaneous selection of works when considered in terms of either composers, dates or places. The chronology spans close to four hundred years comprising works composed on three continents by composers of several nationalities as diverse as Spain, Brazil, the United States and Russia. Any sense, however, that this program may be random or without a clear sense of purpose is dispelled immediately upon listening to the entire recording from beginning to end as a continuum, without trying to distinguish one work from the next, as if one single artistic gesture. The program is so beautifully crafted that its progression of moods, colours and emotions are welded into an absorbing fluid experience in which dates, places, and personalities melt into secondary relevance. Without doubt, Igor Klokov has crafted a program in which the poetry of his performance is due both to this interweaving as well as to the beauty of his interpretations.
